Timecode

At the recommendation of my friend Nina, I sat down last night with a bowl of my reknowned chili tomato bisque to watch a film called Timecode, in which four cameras occupy the four corners of the screen, continuously following four characters through their lives, the casting of a feature film, and a series of earthquakes in Los Angeles.  Rather than focus your attention with cuts, the filmmaker uses the audio to draw or divide your attention.

As an experiment, it's both engrossing and successful, and as a film it worked for me completely.  Certainly, it's an innovative way of exploring how film can tell stories.

I definitely recommend checking it out.  Listen to Nina.  Nina knows.
